I have 16 post and not all of them are over 200 words and not all of them have to Harry Potter. Aside from being bummed that I need B+ in this class to keep my job and place of residence, and I’m no where near that, I really don’t know what else to talk about. I love this class. I tried to write my best and the fact is I felt like I summed up my ideas in less than five pages on occasion. For the most part this class was more than a geek-out session on Harry Potter, I really don’t think I could hang with most of the class in sense, but more so rhetoric; now you’re in my playing field. I really felt like I became a better writer. Sure I struggled, but that’s what students do; but I learned. I learned how to become more persuasive. I learned that I could argue just about anything within the realm of Harry Potter, even the fact that Harry Potter should be canonized. So when grades post I’ll either cry tears of joy or sorrow (please….I know I don’t deserve it, but let them be tears of joy), but I’ll know that at the end of the day I learned how to be a better rhetorician because of this class……..

Harry Potter is way better than Chronicles of Narnia. I’m so going to argue like an angry valley girl.
The blog styles I don’t like:
1) Serious eats…Seriously sounds like a housewife’s best friend…no thank you
2)The wire is boring sorry better luck next time.
3)I don’t think I like the Huffington post it sounds to newsy
4)I hate the daily dish just because of the title. It sounds like a special at Diner 59
5)If I wasn’t lazy and had a short attention I span I would be able talk about another blog
The Blogs I do like.
1) Since I am arguing like an angry valley girl I Jezebel is a great blog.
2)I like the style of the Leaky Cauldron so HaHa take that Daily Dish.
3)Of course I have to use stuff white people like cause I love it (even though I am not white)
4) I quit because I’m lazy and irresponsible, but meh I’ll get it done.
“Pay no attention to what the critics say… Remember, a statue has never been set up in honor of a critic!”— Jean Sibelius
is what a lot of my professors or saying about my writing this year which sucks because from my senior year when I first heard about the rhetoric department at UT until last year I have heard nothing but praise with the exception, of course, of my grammar(it really is a lost art…and I hope it stays there). Now I’m getting complaints on how I organize my ideas, how my playful tone is otherwise unnecessary, and how my wordiness utterly disrupts my clarity. I thought I had this down pack. Writing is something that I do naturally with no effort. It just appeals to me and now I realize that I actually have to keep working at to keep this skill sharp and sound…WELL…that sucks, hardcore. I thought I was just naturally talented and it turns out I was actually taught to write well and I retained it. Then again I have been a little off centered this year. I guess if I had one piece of advice left one of your friends read it (the really dumb one…we all have one), and if they can’t follow your otherwise logical argument maybe there are somethings you need to make a little clearer.
To tell the truth I really don’t care. I’m being as bluntly honest as possible. I don’t care so much that I forgot that we were supposed to be posting something on grammar. As long as the world turns, there will always be someone to correct my grammar.
I want to be a writer if I grow up (I still have the childish thought that I’m peter pan although I haven’t tried to fly yet…..)
I think that my publisher will be more content with my content than my grammar. I mean c’mon who has time to sit there and make sure that everything that is written follows every single grammatical rule.
I said it before, I don’t care, there are more important things to me than freakin’ grammar.
So, I am a rhetorician at heart and I know that you may not be. I feel as though since you reblogged me that first and foremost you should have know that I was in your audience. You shouldn’t have know that I am a Christian to know that your particular use of language might come of as offensive. I respect your right to free speech because it is necessary for academic progress, but I resent your generalization of the Christians. You constantly refer to Christians as “they” as if we are wholly (no pun intended) one.
“I think that the whole Christian group should be careful on how they are so easily to condemn things and put other ideas and beliefs down. I mean, this is a novel, not an article by the anti-Christ. I think they should do some self reflection”
I don’t easily condemn things, as a matter of fact I love Harry Potter, the movies and novels. I am not closed-minded. I understand that my belief is neither the only one nor is the most important one.
Do you get where I’m going with this. Everything is Argument (See, at least the title is useful Foley). I’m arguing right now that you should change your language because it’s offensive to Christians. You were arguing that ALL Christians are close-minded, control freaks who need to mind their own business(that might be an exaggeration). Just be wary of your audience. You might have been trying to preach to choir in which case be as offensive as you can because your audience will agree with you. If not tone it down a little so that the audience you are trying to convince might hear you out.
I’m sorry for rhetorically analyzing your blog. I do it automatically. It’s kind of why I chose it as a major.
